Being the innate maximalist that I am, fortunately/unfortunately I haven't had a ton of tasteful hoarding clients, like myself *wink wink*. For me there is nothing like accessories, the jewelry of anything draws me in, the details, and the delicacy. Thus for me being a maximalist is having a true appreciation for cultivating collections of treasured moments throughout the home. A master can represent this with a harmonious constant continuity that isn't literal or shy! Balance creates harmony in all things.
Love the city, but most of the time on the housing front, it freaking sucks! Feeling like you're lucky to even find a place, settling for the #slumlordsofchicago. Welp, I'll tell ya. This daughter has moved on up to the east side and I'm finally loving my place! I'm even thinking of making Christmas Care packages for all of my neighbors! But first I'm carrying out my dream windows! I'm tackling it today.
For years I've fantasized about bringing my flava to my windows in a less traditional way. After a few apartments, this is my cultivated collection of my favorite finials! Eclectic metals, but still the perfect touch of elegance that I love!
I've found some nice beaded garlands over the years that I used for my holiday decor. I absolutely loved how organic and natural they were, and they really matched my holiday vibes for Halloween and Thanksgiving. But being the glamazon that I am, it lacked something the afrocentric maximalist in me really desired.
So I ended up making my own! After studying knots for a few years, I've collected all my favorite bobbins, fastens and threads in hopes to embellish my pull backs, hang charms from my gold hooks, and lay necklaces along my valances!
I'll be sure to keep you posted on my window updates! There's a lot of windows in this new place and I can't wait to put some swag on each one! Xo pB
