Biking Through the SoLo

I'm inspired by graffiti and streetart. The language of any rebel resonates with me. When your art, your voice, your vision isn't acceptable, formal, or trendy...you're probably a vandal to society's order and grace. This is simply music to my ears. Forget bandwagons anyway. Chaos changes cyclical thoughts of structure. Graffiti challenges humans to feel, hate it or love it.

You can find such art in the South Loop of Chicago aka SoLo. Took these pics in the alley behind my previous apartment, a loft at 11th and State near Columbia. Sheppard Ferry installed this sick wheat paste a few years ago and peeps have been adding their own scribbles and bits ever since.

I'm absolutely tickled by the faces. Totally touched by the note to 'DAD'. He must've been badass.

  1. Awesome! :D I very much agree that graffiti art rebels against the status quo and topples the structure held together by cyclical thoughts!

  2. So eloquently stated ;-) I let out a chuckle every time I pass one of these clever little protest.
